Suboxone (buprenorphine/naloxone)

What is buprenorphine?
Buprenorphine is a drug used in the treatment of opioid dependence in patients. Patients suffering from addiction to opioids such as oxycodone, hydrocodone, morphine, fentanyl, heroin, etc. have found great success in alleviating their dependence to such drugs.  Except in the case of a pregnant or nursing female, or a documented allergic reaction to naloxone, physicians primarily prescribe medications which include a combination of buprenorphine and naloxone; the name brand for these are:  Suboxone(r) (available in strips and generic pills); Bunavail(r), and Zubsolv(r).

Not all doctors can prescribe Suboxone/buprenorphine products.  They must receive special training and an additional DEA number.  Dr. Bush attained his certification in treating opiate addiction in 2008.
